Vanilla, North america release: QUEERTY ARTICLE

Vacations are romantic: Dreamy scenery, exciting adventures, delicious food and drinks—hell, even your standard hotel room can feel like an aphrodisiac when you’re traveling somewhere with your partner.

However, just because you’re somewhere new with your boo, that doesn’t mean all of your troubles will suddenly fade away. You brought all that emotional baggage with you, too.

All of that gets unpacked in Vanilla, the sun-soaked romantic drama from filmmaker Joseph A. Adesunloye (White Colour Black).

To celebrate their third anniversary, British couple Bastien (1899‘s Yann Gael) and Matt (Gabriel Winter, last seen in Adesunloye’s short One French Summer) jet off the Barcelona, exploring the gorgeous coastal city for the first time.

But it’s not long before there’s some trouble in paradise. As we soon learn, the pair’s relationship has been on shaky ground ever since Bastien cheated on Matt—with a woman. It was a few months back, and the guys talked it through, eager to move forward, but it’s clear the infidelity caused a rift they haven’t quite managed to sew up.

Things are further complicated when they meet their city tour guide, Florent (Penny Dreadful‘s Jack Hamilton) a British ex-pat now living in Spain who has no qualms openly flirting with the guys, especially Bastien.

Florent’s obvious crush only drives a wedge further between the two, bringing drama old and new to the surface. Bastien, and artist, resents Matt’s more money-driven career in the finance world, while Matt realizes he may never be fully able to trust Bastian again.

They arrived in Barcelona together, but will they both be leaving single? READ MORE
